The Diary of an Online Dating Profile Writer.

imagesI scanned Zoosk and match.com today and read a number of online dating profiles looking for one that I could feature here.

My goal, always, is to choose excerpts that have common profile writing mistakes so that I can critique them and pass that knowledge onto you.

If you can’t hire me for a consultation or to help you write a great dating profile, then hopefully my regular posts will help.

From the dating profile of a 51 year old man.

I’m a father but, somehow, all of a sudden they’re all grown up, wow time flies.  I went through a dark time when my career suddenly ended too. Now I’m at peace. You know, when life stops giving and starts taking away that you realize just what’s important to you.

 My critique.

Quite simply: an online dating profile is not a diary. It’s not the place to reflect upon dark times. It’s the place to shine. Be as attractive as you can be, not as depressing as you can be.

In addition, when you put this kind of sad or negative information out there, then that’s all you’re giving anyone to bond over. As such, your follow up emails will start on a low note.

Instead, keep your reflections to yourself. Share them when you’ve become friends with someone and when the timing is appropriate.

Turn your online dating profile into a marketing opportunity.

Go online with an upbeat, fun and appealing presentation. Use marketing techniques to craft your online dating profile. Better yet, let me write it on your behalf. I’m ad writer and an online dating profile writer. As such, I have a unique combination of skills to make your online dating profile truly dynamic.
