Online dating profile writing. Thanksgiving edition.

Why I’m grateful to be an online dating profile writer.

imagesI regularly scan dating sites reading dating profile after online dating profile. Partly it’s to find ideas for tweets and blogs. It’s also because I miss the drama and mayhem of Game of Thrones. Until its return, this fills the gap nicely.

Today being Thanksgiving, I decided to write a blog about all the reasons I’m grateful for my job whether I’m spending the day scanning random dating profiles of singles I don’t know or writing the dating profiles of singles who contact me.

Typos
When I scan random dating profiles, I find a lot of very entertaining typos for which I’m grateful. I discovered one of my favorites on the dating profile of a man who liked to hunt, lift weights and train for Tough Mudder. He also liked to play “porker” with the boys. For that, I’m grateful.

Another favorite was the username Betty Boob (at least, I hope that was a typo).

Tantrums

Who doesn’t love a good rant especially when you go online looking for love? Am I right? Here’s an excerpt from one of my most loved. I found it on a 33-year old man’s dating profile:

Do not message me if you go to a tanning salon more than 12 times a week. Do not message me if you have a social worker that you report to regularly. Do not message me if you’re from Russian or the Phillipines…or, okay maybe the Phillipines.

TMI

The great thing about online dating profiles is that I never have to go to WebMD for gruesome details of medical conditions. Just a few minutes of reading dating profiles and you can become well-versed about C-sections, Crohn’s disease, rhinoplasty, as well breast implants that look and feel real.

My clients

While scanning dating profiles and writing sarcastic tweets (and, admittedly, the occasional facetious blog), the best part of my day is writing online dating profiles. All joking aside, I’ve had the best clients. I cannot be thankful enough.

I’ve had a young guy who liked strawberry ice cream, but without the strawberries. I had a woman who was coming out of an abusive relationship bruised, but not beaten. I had a man who, though wildly successful, credited others for his achievements. I had a Dad who dressed up as a princess for his 9-year daughter’s birthday party and I had the mother of four who would draw faces in pancakes to amuse her kids.

I’m in the fortunate position of working with sincere people who want to find the “one”. This service doesn’t attract desperate people who want just anybody. Nor does it attract players who want flings.

I don’t attract celebrities or thought leaders either and yet I’ve discovered the  “average” person to be unsung heroes with endless charm.

Thanks to this job, I’ve met some of the smartest, bravest, funniest, sincerest and most lovable people. If you think there are no decent people online dating, then you’ll be relieved to know that you’re mistaken.

About writing dating profiles.

Clearly I love what I do. I’m also good at it – not just because it’s a passion, but because I’m a trained ad writer. With that comes a talent for finding what makes you unique and presenting it so that you stand out from your competition.

The process begins with my personality questionnaire. From there I usually often follow up with even more questions so that I can find some of your best anecdotes. Then, because I’ve made sure to get enough content from you, I’m then able to put it all together using your expressions and anecdotes. That way you go online with a dating profile that truly comes from “you”.
